Sarah Henderson, North Ferriby United’s Sport Rehabilitator, is to lead a new Kinesio Taping courses to Sport Rehabilitation students at the University of Hull. This will allow students to be qualified Kinesio Taping practitioners at the end of their degree courses. The Sport Rehabilitation course is accredited by the British association of sport rehabilitators and trainers (BASRaT)
Sarah qualified as a Certified Kinesio Tape Practitioner (CKTP) in 2012. In addition to working part-time with North Ferriby’s players, Sarah works in both the University’s injuries clinic and sport rehabilitation department and is currently studying for a PhD.
Kinesio Taping can help sports injuries, muscular complaints, swelling and joint pain. The tape is a brightly coloured or black therapeutic, stretchy taping. It is important to know how apply it correctly because the tape's effects differ depending on how much tension or "pull-back" is created.
Sarah commented, "I first became aware of Kinesio tape in 2008, with the Beijing Olympics, and saw this product become increasingly popular among the elite athletes.
“Since I qualified as a Kinesio Taping practitioner in 2012, I've used it to great effect at North Ferriby and also clinically at the university on so many different people with different injuries.”
