Ferriby’s 2014-15 season finally closed yesterday when the Club received the Toolstation Cup Run of the Year Award. The presentation lunch was held at Fulham FC’s Craven Cottage Stadium.
The National Game Awards are sponsored by The Non-League Paper and the the Non-League Footballers Association. Most of the awards are voted for by readers of The Non-League Paper and to win an award shows that the recipients have the respect of the wider non-league football community.
Ferriby’s award was based on the Club winning this season’s FA Trophy Final when they beat Conference Premier side Wrexham at Wembley in a dramatic penalty shoot-out that was broadcast round the world.
Ferriby’s Club Secretary Richard Watts, and Press Officer Phil Withers were at the lunch to receive the award on behalf of the Club.
Richard Watts commented, “It’s a great honour to receive an award that is voted for by those who play, support and work for non-league clubs throughout the country. The award is a testament to the resilience of the Ferriby players during the FA Trophy run.”
Philip Withers commented, “This is a very special award for Ferriby. For those who have followed The Villagers over the years, cup success has often been elusive. So to win this award is, to say the least, an unexpected pleasure. It’s a fitting tribute not only to the team but also to the management duo of Billy Heath and Mark Carroll for whom the Final was their 700th game as managerial team.”
